Advocacy can include many activities that a person or organization undertakes including\u00a0media campaigns<\/a>,\u00a0public speaking<\/a>, commissioning and publishing research or conducting\u00a0exit poll<\/a>\u00a0or the filing of an\u00a0amicus brief<\/a>.\u00a0Lobbying<\/a>\u00a0(often by\u00a0lobby groups<\/a>) is a form of advocacy where a direct approach is made to\u00a0legislators<\/a>\u00a0on a specific issue or specific piece of legislation. Advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, are able to:<\/p>\n

  2. Defend and safeguard their rights.<\/li>\n
  3. Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives.<\/li>\n

  5. Express their views and concerns.<\/li>\n
  6. Access information and services.<\/li>\n
  7. Defend and promote their rights and responsibilities.<\/li>\n
  8. Explore choices and options<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Islamic Research Institute of Social Sciences<\/strong> (IRISS<\/strong>) offers a key role in the advocacy of the important issues prevalent in the society. It has a multi-pronged approach regarding its line of action.
